Mathura : The Birthplace Of Shree Krishna

Cores of devotees visit the temple annually in Mathura, world famous for Lord Krishna's birthplace and his Raslilaas. Although there are thousands of temples in this entire district, but some temples have special significance for centuries. Here Mathura Nagar, Vrindavan, Govardhan, Gokul, Barsana and Nandgaon existed even before the birth of Shri Krishna. According to mythological history, about 5 thousand years ago, Lord Vishnu took his 22nd incarnation as Krishna in the human vagina. He was born from Devaki's womb in Kansa's prison (jail) at 12 o'clock on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month in Dwapar Yuga. Kansa (a demon) was then the king of Mathura and had his sister Devaki and her husband Vasudev Maharaj taken captive and put in jail. Krishna was born inside the prison as the 8th child of Devaki. He was called Krishna because the color was dark blue.

According to the texts, the place where the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple is present in Mathura used to be the prison of Kansa in Katra Keshav Dev of Mallapura region during the reign of Kansa. Krishna was born in the same prison at midnight in the Rohini constellation. Later, numerous demons including King Kamsa were killed by Krishna. It is believed that the first temple at Mathura Kargar, i.e. Krishna's birthplace, was built by the son of Lord Krishna's great-grandson, Anirudh, son of Pradyumna.

Raja Veer Singh Dev Bundela of Orchha built the temple for the fourth time at this place. In 1669, irritated by the grandeur of this temple, Aurangzeb broke it and built Idgah on one part of it. After this, no Hindu king could remove Idgah, although industrialist Jugalkishore Birla started the revival and construction of the sanctum sanctorum here. Which was completed in February 1982. Now there are both temple and Idgah here.
